Making sure your built in furniture fits in the intended location

Carpentry is one of the most important aspect in any construction project. Regardless of the type of project, a residential or a commercial project, carpentry is always needed for cabinets, counters and consoles. It is also one of the aspect that people tend to overlook due to how complicated it looks like. Here are 3 ways that gives a general rule of thumb when making sure the carpentry fits into the intended location.
Dimensions
The first point would be the dimensions of where the proposed carpentry would be. It may seem obvious but most of the time people tend to rely on the given floor plans for the measurements. Although the floor plans are to scale, the measurements might be different from the floor plan that can affect carpentry. Making sure your carpentry fits would first need a strong point of reference and by measuring physically where it is supposed to be, can result in a more accurate dimension to start with.

Equipment Dimensions
The second way to make sure your carpentry fits, is to make sure your equipment fits into carpentry. This applies to all areas but is especially important for kitchens or any areas that has a lot of equipment like an av console. One of the reasons why, is to make sure the finished carpentry would look clean and well done. If it is not done right, the equipment might not be flushed with the carpentry giving an untidy look that can affect the design. The dimensions of equipment can always be found on the boxes they came in or in an instruction manual that comes with it. A quick call to the supplier for the equipment can also provide you with the dimensions of the equipment. By giving these equipment dimensions to the carpenter, they can measure the carpentry accurately for these equipment to fit in the carpentry nicely to give a finished, clean and tidy look.
Carpenter Measurements
For the last point would be something people often do not pay attention to. This would be to attend the carpenter site measurement meeting. It is the most important point out of these three points as even if the earlier two points are done right, the change in this stage can change the carpentry. By attending this meeting, it can help the carpenter clarify and doubts or any questions they may have. For an example confirming how big drawers are to how high a cabinet is. It can also help to clear up any instances where due to the area's situation the carpentry needs to change. For example fitting in a wall that is shorter or a beam blocking a full height cabinet. This would be the stage where apart from installation and fabrication, it would be the closest stage to 'fitting in' carpentry in the intended location. It is where the carpenter can adjust, measure and start fabricating the built in furniture.
With all three parts taken note of, the proposed carpentry can be fabricated confidently, installed smoothly fitting into the intended location giving a nice, clean finished built in furniture that can complete and enhance a design.
