Concealing sanitary pipes in public residential units
One of the things that bathrooms have are sanitary pipes. These sanitary pipes are essential and are part of the necessary sanitary system. For some, these pipes are always hidden, designed to be concealed. These usually happens in private residential units, however they are usually exposed in public residential units. These sanitary pipes are rarely shown in bathroom designs. There are different ways to conceal them and here are some of them.
Boxing Up
The first way is to box up the sanitary pipes. This method is usually used to cover up certain areas where the sanitary pipes are. Be it a horizontal pipe or vertical pipe boxing them up essentially conceals them from view. These box ups, can be in painted, laminated or paneled
to give a consistent finish. By using this method, it can conceal the sanitary pipes while giving the bathroom a consistent design.
Redefining
The second method is to redefine the ceiling or wall wherever the sanitary pipes are. One thing to take note for this method is that it needs space to do so. Basing on the size of the bathroom, creating a new ceiling or wall can conceal the sanitary pipes can eat into the bathroom space. Nonetheless when there is space to be used, this method is a useful in concealing sanitary pipes as it creates a blank bathroom space to design on without any worries about any sanitary pipes creating discord in the design.
Integration
The last method would go further with what the first and second method has done. It is boxing up the sanitary pipes and connecting fixed furniture with it. This can be done by creating a new wall, concealing the sanitary pipes while having shower shelves and part of a vanity counter. Doing this may need extra attention during designing and construction however it can ensure that the sanitary pipes are concealed at the same time creating a design style that maximises the bathroom at both a design and functional angle.
By concealing sanitary pipes, it can help to make a bathroom have a consistent design without having to expose the necessity function of a bathroom. One thing to take note of is to have access panels installed to be able to access the sanitary pipes.
