What is marble and the different types of marble.

Today we are talking about a material mostly used as feature walls , flooring or counter tops. It is marble. Marble can be classified in different ways. This is referenced in several marble companies from around the world. The common ways are through the origin of the marble slab, its colour and its texture. Marble is a popular material due to its texture, colour and durability. It is also considered to be one of the more expensive materials used in an interior space. This leads it to be used in mostly luxurious spaces for example hotels or high end residential/commercial spaces as a feature wall.

One of the categorisation I will introduce here is the one done by Colonial Marble which divided it through texture.
According to them, in a blogpost on their website, there are 5 different types of marble. Carrara Marble, Statuary Marble,Calacatta Marble, Emperador Marble and Crema Marfil Marble.
These are the most commonly used marbles used in the design scene. Each of them are different from each other in terms of the veins, patterns and contrast. In each type, there are also different colours under each type. Some come in black and white while others are more varied with brown and beige colours.
These are some of the reasons why marble are used as feature walls or even flooring in some spaces. It is a versatile material and beautiful material and having it in a space can make a space feel better depending on the idea and style of the space.
